GYPASO, Dr. Gybrilla Ballard-Blakes will present “Give Your Parents A Standing Ovation,” taking place at The Bowie Center for the Performing Arts on September 17, 2022, for two shows 2 pm & 7 pm, and featuring Director Bruce Adams (BK Productions).


GYPASO's Dr. Gybrilla Ballard-Blakes is proud to bring “Give Your Parents A Standing Ovation” to Prince George's County’s Bowie Center for the Performing Arts for the fifth time. Back by popular demand, “Give Your Parents a Standing Ovation” will feature an educational but entertaining of a family that overcomes the challenges of dealing with a loved one with Alzheimer's. 


SYNOPSIS:


Journey with a family, maybe like yours, as they labor to love and cherish the memories of one another.


GIVE YOUR PARENTS A STANDING OVATION is a live theatrical performance adapted and directed by Bruce Odams. Screenplay written by Dr. Gybrilla Ballard-Blakes, Tony Medley, and Ginnifer Blakes-Minor based on the novel “Give Your Parents A Standing Ovation” written by Dr. Gybrilla Ballard-Blakes.  Running time is approximately 90 minutes. The plot is about a family whose matriarch is experiencing warning signs of Alzheimer's. The play is funny, but it is also emotional and educational. You will find yourself emerging into a real-life situation where family caregivers are trying to figure out how to best care for the matriarch of the family. There is live entertainment after each of the stage play's scenes and during intermission.


The trials and rewards of caregiving will be placed on display. It is time to break the silence and talk openly about one of the major health epidemics currently facing our society. Over 6.5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease.  Alzheimer's and Dementia quietly destroys families and communities everyday....It is time to fight back with awareness!
